Calling All Krier Articles
Has your club done something extraordinary or have you set up some kind of fundraiser that you would like to advertise to the rest of the District? Then why not write about it in the Krier. Each Vice President is required to submit a minimum of 2 articles to the District Editor but anyone can also submit an article. This is a great way to let others know what your club is up to. Please submit your articles to District Editor Angela at editor@pacirclek.org. In order to apply for awards at District Convention, your club must have at least 2 articles submitted.

District Service Project

At this year's past District Convention the 2002-2003 Service Project was announced... "Take Aktion; Making Abilities Out of Disabilities".With this type of District Service Project, there are so many projects that your clubs can partake in. You can become a Best Buddy and develope a one-on-one friendship with a child with a mental handicap. You could also participate in a Special Olympics event such as bowling or a track and field day. There is a statewide organization called, LDAP, the Leaning Disabilities Association of Pennsylvania. This group's purpose is to advocate the educaton and general well-being of persons with learning disabilties. You could also do a joint-project with your local Aktion club, the Kiwanis branch for adults with disabilites. The possibilities are endless.

Dues, Dues, Dues...

All of your clubs did an awesome job last year with recruiting members. Remember that one of the PACK's Goals for this year is to increase membership in each club by at least 10%. Here is a break down by club of how many members are in the Allegheny Division this year:
CMU: 23
Duquesne: 42
IUP: 23
University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg: 58
University of Pittsburgh-Oakland: 28

District Goals for 2002-2003
1. Strive to achieve at least an average of 35 hours of service per member.
2. Each club will participate in at least 2 projects relating to the District Service Project and 2 projects relating to the International Service Initiative.
3. Increase membership in each club by at least 10% over the previous administrative year.
4. Have 135 K-Family members in attendance at InterPACK and 30 clubs at District Convention 2003.
5. Each club will participate in at least one District K-Family Day; At least seven clubs shall hold a Key to College Program.

How to Calculate P.E.R.K points

PERK measures the interaction between the branches of the K-Family. The only way to get PERK is to work with another club in the K-Family (ie. Circle K's, Kiwanis clubs, Key Clubs, etc.) You get....
1 point at the club level (ex. club to club interaction)
2 points at the divisional level (ex. rally)
3 points at the district level (ex. InterPACK, DCON)
4 points at the international level (ex. ICON)
For each member in attendance.

If your club hosts the event, you get...
at the club level, 2 points plus an additional point for each member not from your home club.
at the divisional level, 3 points plus 2 points per member not from your club
at the district level, 3 points plus 4 points per member not from your club (Excluding District Convention and InterPACK)

Important Note: Be sure that only ONLY the PERK points for hosted events are posted in the Hosted events table. (No doubling up!)
